mHUB accelerator alumni — part 1
I’ve mostly published about the startups in mHUB’s current accelerator cohort. Here is an update on some of prior years’ graduates in the Climate & Energy field.
JustAir brings more visibility to the quality of the #air we breathe, not just one sensor on a nice location, rather an array of sensors across neighborhoods. Local communities can employ real-time data to make informed decisions that protect their citizens against poor air quality. Darren and the team now have partnerships across multiple states, and most recently secured a multi-million partnership with Wayne County, MI to deploy 100 monitors and 500 connected monitor inhalers for three years.
infiniRel started commercializing its inverter health scanning services in the first quarter in both Solar and #Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) markets contracting with leading global renewable energy developers. By electrically scanning utility-scale inverters in operation with its proprietary EKGTM, the infiniRel team under the leadership of Bert and Andreas was able to uncover never seen before technical detail into reliability threats.
Hago Energetics completed a successful pyrolysis-based pilot for producing low carbon #hydrogen from biogas at a cattle farm in the Central Valley of California end of last year. CEO and founder Wilson also received a new $350k grant from NY State to make carbon negative methanol from cow manure.
Icarus is converting standard #solar arrays into patented solar and energy storage arrays thereby increasing solar panel efficiency and adding thermal storage. CEO and founder Mark is launching a first paid installation in Chula Vista, CA this summer and has more confirmed pilots and a commercial project in the growing pipeline. Moving from prototyping to volume production is the key focus now.
Blip Energy’s plug-and-play smart battery brings multiunit residential and commercial properties into the smart grid network. Blip leverages Machine Learning to decrease user electric bills and provides backup power. From this valuable place at the grid edge Blip’s battery fleet defines a new category of drop-in Distributed Energy Resource, and provides flexible capacity to utilities to stabilize the grid and lower grid operating costs. Co-founders Sophia and Chance secured a paid utility pilot that will place battery units with residential energy customers this summer.
Join me in congratulating these rock stars!
They all participated in mHUB’s accelerator, a 6-month hardtech focused program driven by corporate partners’ focus areas in climate and energy. We are all aware there is the fear of falling in a valley following cohort programs. Therefore, our accelerator adds another 18 months of continued support in the form of membership in our 500+ strong startup community, continued hardtech development support, and mentoring.
